We are moving to an intermittent and decentralized energy supply. Flexibility in the consumption of our energy is essential to provide reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy. To enable this flexibility, we need to be able granular control of loads and renewable energy resources. As we consume most of our energy in buildings, we need to gain control of the different loads inside our buildings. As buildings are becoming more electrical, integrated, and digital. Building management systems evolve from systems that control lighting and HVAC to integrated building management systems. That gives end-users and service providers visibility and control on their energy flows, building utilization and comfort levels. This granular flexibility will enable us to contribute to a reliable grid and consume energy when it is most affordable.
